In the distant past, to melt sealing wax, which was used to seal letters, or to light the “lights” namely candles, lamps and anything else, the wick holder was used, a small container that housed inside a wax wick soaked in a flammable liquid. Of small dimensions but extremely elegant, it is made of cast, embossed and chiseled silver, Venice, 18th century. Smooth circular base with a side grip on which the domed lid is attached, in the center of which there is the exit hole for the wick; inside it bears the punch mark of the Mint of S. Marco, the lion in moleca, and of the assayer Zuannne Cottini (1712-1736). Dimensions: length 12 cm - height 5.5 cm - weight 146 g
