Pair of mirrors - SOLD
Period: 18th century
Genoese silverware, abundant since the 12th century, as a precious and "recyclable" material, has suffered countless looting over the centuries (pirates, wars, not to mention good old Napoleon). This explains the rarity of this splendid pair of small mirrors. Made of embossed and chiseled silver sheet, they feature typical Baroque motifs, opposing volutes and acanthus leaves, with an oval case in the center containing the small antique mirror. The pair of small mirrors is in excellent condition thanks to the high thickness of the sheet used, which prevented dents and breaks; both bear the "turret" hallmark, the date (1)760 and the assay marks. Dimensions: height 24.5 cm, width approximately 20 cm, weight 353 / 346 g
