The author of this beautiful bronze depicting a Swimmer with Fins is Mario Arcuri (Castrovillari (CS) 1917 – Genoa 1986); the multifaceted artist ranged from ceramics, with an important experience at the Albissola kilns of the Mazzotti family “MGA”, to the creation of bronze works (he had attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence), stimulated by the artistic influence of the sculptor Guido Galletti. A path that will also lead to landscape painting.
Many exhibitions, in Genoa we remember his solo shows in 1958 at the San Matteo Gallery and in 1971 at the Il Vicolo Gallery.
On a rock sits the slender female figure with both hands resting on the large boulder as if to hold on, wearing a pair of fins on her feet. A chignon gathers the long hair on the nape of her neck. She gazes into infinity.
