Pair of silver candlesticks Torretta 1751 - SOLD
Period: First half of the 18th century
Beautiful and elegant pair of Genoese embossed silver candlesticks from the 18th century, hallmarked with the “Torretta” mark and dated (1)751. The wide circular base with shaped edges is decorated with acanthus leaf motifs, three larger and three smaller, alternated and connected to each other by veins. The foot band is decorated with a molded edge. The stem, with a triangular section, rises from acanthus leaves in the center, also decorated with pellacce motifs (also present on the candle holder). The model used for these two specimens is very similar to a pair of candlesticks published in the catalog Argenterie genovesi, Tav. 184 , G. Morazzoni, Milan, Alfieri, 1953. Dimensions: 26.5 cm
