Rare embossed and chiseled silver candlestick with cast parts, a magnificent example of sacred silverware, Genoa, sixth decade of the 18th century.
It has a triangular base resting on three bestial feet, the three faces have the same decorative motif with a cartouche in the center: the outer edges are decorated in the upper part with a chisel, while the lower part is enriched with inserts with vegetal motifs and flowers.
The stem, consisting of three onion-shaped and pear-shaped nodes, ends in the wax collecting cup defined by a splendidly decorated frame.
The candlestick, in excellent condition, without a hallmark, is structurally identical to those published by G. Roccatagliata in Argenti genovesi. La Torretta, depicted in the table on sheet 37 page 58, dated (1)758, now in a private collection.
